Alpha heroes

I had thought that I'd created an alpha hero in Daniel - he was confident, arrogant, he knew what he wanted and he went after it... However the NWS report commented that he was not particularly alpha.

Why not?  "Alpha heroes are proactive, demanding and dominant and while Laura says that Daniel is strong and dominant, in fact a lot of the time Daniel is not. He rarely takes the initiative in their relationship and often avoids confrontation".
At one stage I have him taking a step back and waiting for Laura to come round and stop shutting him out which is not an alpha response to a problem.

After reading the report I was really interested to read Jenny Hutton's comments about alpha men on the new Mills and Boon community. It would seem that 'not alpha enough' is a common complaint.

If that's Daniel in the photo, I'd happily take the initiative.

Me too, although am not sure about the moobs ;) Ah, alpha males... trying to make them alpha without them seeming too overbearing or brutish - it's a tricky one!

Lucy - moobs?? Hahahaha!! The Smart B*tches call it man-titty. Hee hee.
Yep, the old alpha question. It's tricky but providing male POV helps so you get some idea about their motivations.

Hmm, he's a little too defined for my liking but the face is pure Daniel!

I think the motivation thing is key - my reader seemed to suggest that the alpha hero can be insensitive/arrogant/overbearing and as long as he has a good motivation for doing it it works.

I've had a sudden panic that my current hero has too much self doubt in his motivation so need to go off and think about it...

We-ell I'm all set for the morning now. Am thinking of making that picture my desktop background... Do you think I'd get any work done?

Ooh Lorraine, what is he called? He is so lovely. I think I could dream up a whole new ms just for him. Time to put my knowledge of New Zealand rugby players to good use. :-)

The internet is wonderful for inspiration, eh :-)

I don't know who he is, Jo. If anyone knows please post and let me know...

I initially thought it was Brad Pitt, but on, ahem, closer inspection, it might not be...
